Sandisk extreme ssd trouble

So on a recommendation I purchased a 1 TB Sandisk extreme ssd and the recommended apple dongle ( camera kit)
Has a lightning port for more power
iPad gen 6 I’ve seen YouTube videos that proves this should work, mine no worky.

If I plug the ssd into a PC it works, so the drive does work. The iPad just won’t recognize it, anything I can do at this point?

I have the sd dongle that doesn’t supply power and that works to load pics onto ipad via micro sd

How else are you guys moving big files to the iPad. I am considering the Gnarbox if it’s necessary.
