SC screen response for scrubbing

I have had my smart controller on my M2P for about a week now and love the simple setup. My problem is I cannot reliably fast forward or reverse the video with the dot in the video timeline. It may be my big fingers but I think I'm missing something. I am viewing the video from the AC onboard cache so I expect the delay but not the complete lack of response to moving the dot on the timeline. Ideas?
