A classifieds ads lurker seems to have hijacked a listing for a used Mavic 2 Pro. He has been obtrusively insistent with phone calls, emails and texts. He only wants Zelle payment.

He appears to have taken screenshots of the original Mavic 2 Pro listing's photos. He uses two different names: one for emails, another for Zelle payment requests. His phone calls and texts come from Alabama.

The drone sale listing he seems to have hijacked was originally posted by a well-known forum member from Arizona.

Tipoffs this is a scam are his persistent repeated phone calls and texts (up to five times a day), his inability to provide PayPal info, and that the state he is calling from (Alabama) is not the state the legit classified poster lives in.

Odd, the Mavic 2 Pro seems to attract jerks. I’ve tried several times to sell my M2P on Kiji & Craig’s List without success and I’ve had to withdraw the ads each time. I get people in distant places asking for it to be shipped with payment later, payment by PayPal (where they can claim it was damaged or not received), very low ball offers etc. I’ve given up, it’s now collecting dust. I was successful in selling my M2 Enterprise but not without many questionable offers.

I had difficulty selling mine too. It still works on occasion so I'll keep it as a backup. I feel it is better than the Classic 3 I use instead, but the Classic has the smart controller.

I WISH! Different transmission frequency. Although to be honest I never tried it. But pretty sure it wouldn't.
I apologize for my confusing response earlier today. (Sent before 5:00am local time today).
Should have stated: "If you have a Mavic 2 Pro like me, DJI's smart controller works perfectly with the M2P." (Never should have said "Classic 3s")

@AdamBolonsky - if you’re giving a warning about someone, maybe it would be best to take it up with a moderator, as there will be confusion between this unnamed scammer and other legitimate people who are also currently selling M2P’s here.

I don’t know who the supposed scammer is or was, but if anyone is looking for a M2P, Starz is a very reputable seller. I purchased an M2P and a separate battery from him and they were better than described in his ad.

Edit: And to be sure you’re getting the right guy, contact him using DM only from this forum!

The scammer did not post here in the classifieds section. Instead, he lifted Starz's name from the forum, took screenshots of Starz's photos, then contacted me directly via email, texts, phone calls.

I only got suspicious when he became intrusively persistent (up to five contacts a day), called from an Alabama (not Starz's state) phone number, and insisted on using Zelle or Venmo.

He quoted Starz's post title in his original texts to me: "Your Mavic 2 hunt"

It was only after I signed in on the forum here and noticed that the scammer hadn't contacted me via Mavic Pilots DM that I blocked his email accounts and phone numbers.

So he must have been scraping classifieds forums for abbreviations like "WTB", etc.

Starz and I exchanged a couple of DM's re. the above. I gave Starz the scammer's aliases and email addresses.

Hope this clears everything up.

Well that sucks! Hope Starz can get those deleted- he’s a really good member here.

I belong to another forum that involves expensive equipment, some costing as much as $10,000. We’ve had issues exactly like this and instigated the same type of ban on newer members being able to post ads, but also not allowing them to dm other members until they’ve had a significant number of postings and have been around for longer than a month (they can only contact someone selling something if that person leaves their contact information on the classified ad). It worked really well and cut out almost all of the scammers from the classifieds.

I wonder why that won’t work here?

Hate to hear that...I was looking over the classifieds to get an idea how much used MP2's were selling for as I'm going to be listing mine soon. Thanks for the heads-up.
