It's new in a box that has not been opened. Since DJI kept my damaged drone, replaced it with a new drone, theres nothing for me to unbind right? The buyer should be able to just bind the RC Pro directly to the new drone under their DJI account right? Just making sure Im not missing something...appreciate any feedback.

Was your damaged drone bound? I do not know if DJI will receive in a bound drone and send out one that is unbound; if so, I think we just might have found a solution to the "binding" problem?

No worries, if the new owner says that somehow DJI bound the replacement drone then you'll still be able to unbind it for them.

Let us know!

ETA: just to clarify, we're talking about Account binding not Care Refresh binding, right?

Did they send back a drone + controller or was it a drone only replacement?

Yes, account binding. And you're right, I can just

Only Drone. I think the RC Pro should bind with the new drone without a problem.

I have never heard of DJI sending a Drone that was already bound to any account.

What were the specific instructions from DJU relating to what needed to be sent to DJI and what you would need to do when you received the drone?

I've always claimed the process was confusing so I'm hoping the OP will confirm. I don't know what DJI does in practice as opposed what they claim they will do. Imagine this. You get a drone that is "bound" to another account and you don't know the owner and they won't respond (but the drone is not lost or stolen, maybe the guy died). You notice the drone has Care Refresh. why not just crash the drone, send it in, pay $50 for the repair, and get back a practically new "unbound" drone.....with, still attached to it, the remainder of Care Refresh to boot? Does that sounds like an effective DJI "theft" deterrent process to you? 🤣

The Care Refresh would be attached to the account under which it was purchased, the previous owner of the drone.

Of course it would, everyone knows Care Refresh cannot be transferred from one owner to another and it follows the drone and Care Refresh doesn't care if the person making the claim is the original owner, the previous owner, the current owner, or a future owner. This is not a question about Care Refresh process, that is pretty clear to us.

Instead, we have questions about whether account binding and or Care Refresh binding is applicable for replacement drones that are dispatched pursuant to a proper Care Refresh claim. Obviously when DJI send out the replacement drone, the Care Refresh policy is automatically transferred from the old, broken drone s/n to the new refreshed drone s/n but the question is if the drone arrived bound to a DJI account, does the replacement drone go out bound to that same DJI account or does DJI release that bind which would allow whoever gets that drone to bind it to their own DJI account? the OP wants to know if he has to unbind his account from the drone s/n using the Fly App. I just don't think that's a good idea based on what I said in my previous post. I don't know the answer and I'm hoping the OP can shed some light on that. If DJI releases the account binding then I think we might have a possible solution to these drones that are locked up.

I'm pointing out that that the idea of intentionally crashing a drone bound to another DJI account to have it covered by Care Refresh isn't workable.

Sure, because you'll get back a replacement drone....bound to another DJI account. 🤣 :)

Anyway, I don't know exactly how it works, that's why I'm hoping the OP can shed some light on what's going on with his replacement. Or, if anyone else has anything to share, that would be great. Would be a learning experience for me.....
