Today, I think I was very lucky not to have destroyed my beloved Mavic 2 Pro, in fact after a nice flight, while I was landing, a nice group of birds, perhaps pigeons, touched my drone, even if the height at that moment it wasn't much, in case of impact the damage could be serious, as you can see towards the end of the video I have attached. Greetings to all YouTube

Ooops the link doesn't work, is youtube still processing it?

Had a nice size hawk attack my mini 2 recently. Luckily no damage. Wish I had been running video at the time.

I find most birds have a survival instinct that tends to keep them from running into things, they also have very good eyesight and are very good flyers. I fly a light aerobatic plane and I fly low and have noticed ALL birds I encounter dive, so I always pull up. Drones are slow so my guess would be to stop when birds are coming at you. Unless of course they are attacking, then all bets are off.

Looks like someone's flock of homing/racing pigeons. They never seem to bump into each other, so I guess they can steer clear of drones. Glad you escaped unscathed. :)

Responding to Cheddar, the landing was not my manual maneuver, because it was automatic (RTH).

These are the files of the missed drone-pigeon fight.

I think you spooked two separate flocks of pigeon. The first originated from this side of the house below the clock tower. The second was on the ground this side of that isolated tree.
From the numbers of birds in the near miss I think the near miss involved the second flock or a combination of both.
'Domesticated' pigeons tend to fly orbits, if, in future, you see the drone near such an orbiting flock it might be an idea to get out of the orbit area as quickly as possible. In this instance that would have meant flying away and then bringing the drone back lower down under manual control.

PhiliusFoggg, everything lasted a few seconds, even I know that on certain occasions it would be better to fly quickly upwards, as long as there is time .....

Hi Mario,
Just to let you know you are not alone. Here are a few of my pictures taken back in August 2018 of my pigeon attack / near miss. They are similar even though we are from different Countries. (I am in South Australia) Mine is an early model MP1,
Cheers,

You are so lucky those pigeons had forward obstacle avoidance. :)

I put big "Moon Eyes" decals on all my batteries (M2P) and have had no bird strikes since

Sounds like you should figure out how to attach a pair of javelin missiles to your drone. Make short work of those evil feathered heathens.
