I just got mine, I wonder if anyone has ever been check on site for it?

Oh, you mean the FAA registration number (which you can sharpie on to your own sticker or pay someone else to send you a sheet of stickers). I've never called it a certificate, but I suppose it passes for that definition.

I got mine when we all had to sign up a few years back, but I don't think I ever got anything from the FAA except the number, which I received online (nothing in the mail).

it’s normally just referred to as your registration, which is why i think people weren’t exactly sure what you were asking at first.
to answer your question, I’ve never been asked by anyone to see it for my drone.
