Anyone interested/excited/curious about this - Sony Japan / Airpeak If they could repeat the success of their A7 line of cameras, this would bring welcome competition to the DJI's (almost) monopoly.
Or, Ricoh. It would fit in with their line of 360 cameras. It would be welcome I think, I wonder if Olympus ever considered it?
Whatever/whenever they get around to releasing anything, it sounds like it will be quite a long way off.Anyone interested/excited/curious about this - Sony Japan / Airpeak If they could repeat the success of their A7 line of cameras, this would bring welcome competition to the DJI's (almost) monopoly.

Sony makes some great cameras - I have a couple. But if their camera menu system and apps are any indication, I hope they subcontract that part out to someone competent. If any company can take on DJI is't Sony. They have the capital and name recognition,. technological capability, established distributor chain and marketing arm. The only problem I see with Sony is they tend to do stupid things, lacking the cultural vision of an Apple to market their way through them.

If you understand the history of Sony cameras, they bought Minolta, which produced the finest, and most under-rated Japanese cameras on the market. The then took their technology and married it with Minolta cameras and optics and from there developed the mirrorless cameras which set the stage for everyone else. But Sony tends to do strange things in the marketplace, like requiring proprietary accessories, peripherals and equipment (much like Apple) but seem to lack any follow through or large following. Sony never developed a cult-like following like Apple. But from an image standpoint with digital cameras... IMO they are the ones to beat for image quality (I've got Canon gear).Sony makes some great cameras - I have a couple. Sony is the dominant camera sensor maker, supplying >50% of all camera sensors and 70% of phone sensors nowdays.Sony sensors are used on a new submersible drone. Can't remember the name.
My point was that it's hardly remarkable that there's a Sony sensor in a new submersible drone.Okay... Your point is...
Just following your lead. The point of pages of graphics to show DJI's market share completely escapes me.
Just following your lead.
You showed me a graphic for Sony shares, I showed you a graphic for DJI shares.
I wasn't saying it was exciting, per se, I was just stating fact, on a thread that is Sony related.
