Even after all this time I still see Mavic 3 owners (of all types) floating around the place doubting the worth of the Mavic 4. For me, there is no contest. All of these shots are from the Mavic 4 Pro combo and to me the low, and lower, light performance is not comparable. I still have my trusty old M3Pro as a spare on commercial shoots though 😎

Was that an anamorphic lens add-on like Freewell's Anamorphic adapter or cropped in post...or what? I see Freewell's only works with the Mavic 3 and Mini 4 (Pro?) which I no longer use. Agreed on the "let it live" concept.

No it was just a 2:35:1 crop AK, a style thing. It's best if you have that in mind as you shoot but easy to apply in FCPX or resolve. You don't just crop but slide the image up and down so it reframes better for the new aspect ratio.

Not for some of us here in the US of A.
Most, when they need it, will be able to purchase them via same channels as being used today.

What's going on today is completely different. The models we are purchasing today are approved by the FCC. It's been a challenge to get them imported (due to tariffs and other accusations of labor issues) but but it's legal to fly them. Unless something changes, no new DJI drones can be imported, sold, or used in the US. Completely different scenario.

Good to hear you are enjoying the M4P. I personally believe that all these beautiful shots could have been taken equally (maybe 99%) with the M3P and hardly anyone would be able to tell the difference. Perhaps when projected on a huge screen in a movie theatre a few discerning viewers might be able to tell the difference, perhaps less noise in deep shadows and better dynamic range. But for most, the amazing scenery in your shots would be the focus and not the minor technical details.. Just my 2 cent worth..

Thanks for your comments Filmarik. True to some extent, especially with the post software available on the other end these days. But as you allude to, it is the lack of noise in shadows and MUCH better dynamic range that opens up a host of new shots I wouldn't have bothered trying to capture with the 3. For example the opening shot would have been disastrous. Combined with the 6K and the much better images and color space consistency with all 3 cameras there is no comparison, for my work at least. P.S. Forgot to mention that the second shot of the gorge/canyon is on the 6X camera, results would have been very different on the 3.

RE. the opening shot, I can only take your word for it😉. I do not doubt for a second the improvements DJI made to M4P over the M3P, especially when it comes to video. Ability to shoot true D-log with all cameras sounds great on paper but the D-log M in combination with Auto ISO apparently expands dynamic range further than what D-log can capture so it basically beats the benefit of having D-log available on all 3 cameras. Anyway, the bottom line is that your shots are spectacular and that is all what really counts. To what extent M4P contributed to it is out there for discussion. I think you'd be able to take these amazing shots even with the old Phantom 4🤣. In your case it is more about light and location than the tools you use...Keep up the good work and keep sharing. Your work is truly inspirational.

Thanks Filmarik, I think it was only after I became a student of light that I started to improve my shots, it's all about light as you know!
