It appears that there may be sweet spots in terms of time of day for capturing images and videos with the drone.

I am finding that shooting from dawn until about 10 AM in the morning and then from about 3 o'clock in the afternoon until dusk, at least during the Winter months here, affords very attractive lighting and less lens aberration to deal with in post process.

What are some of your experiences in this regard?

Yeah ... that most probably correct, that's why you have expressions like Blue & Golden hours in photography. Mid day is usually really bad with light coming straight from above not creating any interesting shadows at all.

That is what I do. There is an old joke about landscape photographers. They work early in the morning and through the evening, but either nap or drink midday... Some truth to that.

Cheers!

The golden hours have been well established since the for 100 years by filmmakers and photographers.

The bottom line is that the photographer needs to develop his eye for the quality of the light available. What color is it? What angle is it making with the subject.
