Was any attempt made to unlock it? If so what was the outcome?
No- didn’t immediately realize what it was, so just packed up. I’m wondering how many miles the Temp NFZ actually extended.
I would never want to interfere with security operations in any way

Unverified resource says 30 mile radius from every location the POTUS will be on average and sometimes they will blanket the entire city. Again unverified but seems plausible. Sorry this delays your first flight I can imagine that’s gotta be disappointing but this is just one of those things where there’s really nothing you can do about it.

I recall when cell phones were shut down across the city for a (prior) prez driving thru.
Anyway, it was starting to rain tonite, so no big deal...
30nm is correct for POTUS.
VP gets a smaller radius TFR. (only a couple of nm if I remember correctly)
The VP gets a 3 mile radius. The prez gets a 10 mile inner circle and a 30 mile outer circle. Keep that in mind if someone asks you to become VP.
Here is the actual wording from the presidential TFR. Capitalization per the TFR, bold by me.
G. The following operations are not authorized within this TFR: flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, sightseeing operations, maintenance test flights, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and utility and pipeline survey operations.

Sounds like they paid a bum to spit out some numbers in exchange for a bottle of Boone's Farm. I liked it much better when we did not have such strict regulations. In 2008, I was flying my rc helicopters in Iraq near the palace on BIAP. I remember some turd of a captain running over yelling at me because there was a high ranking official in the area. I looked over at my boss, 20 feet from me with stars on his chest and we laughed for a minute until the captain realized that he made a mistake walking over to run his mouth. I was the General's PSO (protective services officer).
My travel has taken me to places around the world. Wherever I go, I try to keep in mind regional regulations that differ from my own. I may not fully understand them, but I just try to give respect.
VIP TFR's can vary greatly in their distance. Here's some information from a Presidential one for this weekend (I colored Radius for emphasis):
