The Mavic Mini 2 is not an entry level drone. It is very quiet, now has a 4K camera with a 2X Zoom with a smooth roller button (while holding down the fn key). At 1080p it can zoom in 4X. It is quiet and small enough to be unobtrusive to wildlife. Bells Rapids, Western Australia.

Hi John,
wow, outstanding rock formations and by hearing the suspense-full music I though that it might be that somewhere sudden one can see a Crocko! ?The birds and ducks had no problem with the mini, astonishing ?
cheers Paul
BTW, you are quite right! The mini2 is not at all an entry level drone. I got mine ten days ago and I am fascinated about that little amazing "bird"

And it is such a pleasure to fly, after carrying around a P4P with gear it's nice to float along :) Thankyou.

@John Gowland maybe in price ,but not in performance
You are right, of course. But what if they sorted the wind issue, bobbing up and down and even improved the camera with zoom? If I tried that with me P4P V2.0 I would have spooked the birds well before getting close.

yes, it´s rally a big pleasure and one of the things I aslo like: it´s ready to fly in one minute ?? I remember back when I had the first DJI Drone, the Phantom 1 what a mess! Mountig a Gimbal for the Hero3 Purchasing a Video transmitter, a receiver and a monitor and of course some batteries for the transmitter and the monitor. And it flow for only about eight minutes with one batterie...Seen from this angle the Mini2 is a real MARVEL ?
cheers Paul

So ,so, true Paul. Even with a large tablet I am up in almost a minute.

Yes it is quite a little bird speaking of birds do you know what the bird is on your video I’ve never seen anything like that? Great video by the way

Thanks for that. The long necked bird is a Pied Cormorant I believe. Cormorants are know as fish hunters mainly sea birds but, unusually, have no natural waxed wings. So you see them when resting with their wings spread out to dry themselves. The others are ducks.
But like you I have never seen Cormorants act quite like that. I think it was very confused not knowing if the MM was a threat or what. Funny though, you could add some human speech to its movements, the mind boggles. :)

That sounds very familiar. Also, adding a chip that would let you download the flight telemetry. Plus, needing a backpack big enough for a months truck just to carry it.

Nice video.

I do have a question..... what would you consider an Entry Level Drone? What makes one Entry level vs NOT Entry Level?

That’s an excellent question. I think most people would say price and features. I have a Spark and a P3S and both are considered entry level by most people because of their initial cost and feature set. However, third party software like Litchi, Dronelink, Hammer, AutoPilot and others add features that are available on more advanced drones - so now are they still entry level?

In my mind an ‘entry level drone’ would be something like a Hubsan X4. They’re about £25, and I think everyone should start with something like that to learn to fly manually.
I don’t think any of the current DJI range are entry level drones given their feature sets. A good pilot/videographer/ photographer could take any current DJI drone and make something fabulous with it. But, the Mini2 is the entry level DJI drone. I say this because of similar comments above - compared to my first Phantom One, with a GoPro silver mounted to the bottom (before gimbals were a thing) with a five minute battery that weighed more than the Mini2, and the donkey required to carry it all - the current drones are nothing short of miraculous.

Nice flying. No one need worry about entry level drones. The way these DJI drones handle and with the built in sensors, GPS hovering, return to home, just get the one you can afford. They already have built in beginner mode.

After having the pleasure of flying many different platforms I def would call the Mini2 is a great beginner drone if you just want to "Buy & Fly".

Nice video footage. Pity I can't come and see. Borders closed again. I hope they are open before next September as I have a Kimberly's tour booked.
