This Camera is built to detect and take down drones

Ok they have upgraded since the last time I paid attention to this technology. They actually took this tech and made a purpose built drone dropper. I know how good just the jammer with 6 small antenna works. It is the directional jammer that is the latest/

In the video the guy is in the backyard and a drone is obviously invading his privacy. What does he do? Well he sure doesn't need that over priced BS. You can drop a drone with a device that costs around $120. Probably less now. The last time I checked they were 4120 and that was pre covid. This device will kill gps, wifi, cell signals etc. In fact if you rely on ring video doorbells or any other wireless security devices, you need to switch to wired. You can drive down the street and knock out all wifi in about a 25 to 30 yard radius around the device. You can drive up to your house with the device active, enter your home and then shut the device off. It takes a minute or two to fully shut off. Then once your wifi is connected again, go and review your security camera video. You will see that there is no video of you arriving or entering your home. You can drop drones left and right if in range of drone or the controller for the drone.
Not sure where you live, but in many countries it’s illegal to interfere with phone signals (same with jamming GPS). With regards to “dropping” drones, if you managed to jam the signal, surely the drone would just RTH with no clear connection to the RC?

Protocols are open, no encryption, everyone with wireshark and 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz wifi can read and modify commands.

I live in the US where it is illegal. That does not mean that people will not have them. Now you could be right about the RTH, I didn't even think of that. I went along on a security assessment of a new gated community development a while back and these were one of many tools tested. It was disturbing to say the least. The drone I saw this device used on stopped hovered and then dropped straight down. I wasnt paying a lot of attention to the drone as I was there for a different reason. What you said makes sense. Also makes me feel better that they wont be falling out of the sky. So at the most someone could annoy you by stopping you from controlling your drone. Thanks for correcting me on this.

Please help me out here. If the signal between the RC and the drone isn't encrypted, why do you need to specifically pair the RC with your individual drone? With no sort of coded link, wouldn't any other RC be able to take control of your drone?

Because DJI want's it. The only thing is, that drone and controller has unique id (maybe they are using SN) and thats all, drone and controller just remembers which id to listen or command, but both of them sees traffic of others and just ignores them. This is why DJI Aeroscope reads all telemetry of all DJI drones. One thing that is not good documented is video feed, this is maybe encrypted, but commands and telemetry is just 'plain text'.

And yet another reason why the government has wanted to ban DJI drones. Seems to me that if it's that easy to take one over then they aren't good enough for government work. Makes you wonder if DJI has a leak in their company and their code is being "counterfeit" by other Chinese companies that are going to sell products to take down drones.
