Thumb screw stripped

I have been interchanging the speakers, the light, and the Beacon. Last week, I attach the speakers, when I tried to take them off the thumb screw was stripped. it would not come loose. It seemed as if there was a plastic nut inside the unit and as I turned the thumbscrew the inside nut was just turning right along with the screw. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like the nut has broken off and not threads stripped. If this is the case, you may need to open the body up
