To buy or not to buy Mavic 4 pro

Your potential new drone has a South Korean warranty so don't plan to use it effectively from the US. Same with the Care Refresh, you'll need a South Korean/regional address to activate it. DJI says both the warranty and the Care Refresh must originate from the country where the drone was originally purchased.
It's not just where the warranty and Care Refresh were sold. If service is required the drone must be shipped to DJI from the country where it and Care Refresh were purchased and DJI will ship only to that country. That's somewhat inconvenient for a US owner of a drone purchased in South Korea.

True, but far better than waiting 4-6 weeks or forever for DJI USA to be able to handle a warranty claim with no refurb stock in country.

If you have a way to ship the drone to South Korea to someone who will send it to DJI and then to ship it back to the US after DJI sends it to your associate in South Korea.

I'm located in the US and crashed my mavic 4 into a power line. I broke the gimbal and obviously didn't have care refresh. I went to DJI's website and set my region to Canada. I started a service ticket. It asked for my return address. I went to shipbymail.com and got a free Canadian address. I used the shipbymail address as the return address for the repair ricket. Once I successfully got a service ticket I printed their label so I could see the shipping address for the repair center. I then went to UPS and created a shipping label from my home to DJI's Canadian repair center. I packed up the drone and included both the repair ticket and DJI's label inside the box. It was successfully repaired at a cost of only $175. The replacement drone was then sent by DJI to my Canadian shipbymail address. Shipbymail took a few days to process it and I then paid them to ship it across the border back to me! The whole process took a put 3 weeks. I think it cost me about $200 in shipping and tarrif costs. As a bonus, I was able to purchase DJI care refresh for the replacement drone using my Canadian address😁.

Where did you buy the original drone from, Canada?

Why couldn't you ship your drone from the US directly to the DJI Canada address, was it not allowed?

Finally, I think there is a small chance having your drone stopped on the way back from Canada into the US at the border but it sounds like you made it work.

Thanks for sharing your story, good to hear you now have Care since you were able to get into the Canada system.

The person selling it is willing to let me fire it up to make sure it's working. Will I have to register it to my account to do so?
You dont need to activate it to test it. You will be limited in distance and altitude but you can check out all functions, gimbal tilt/rotation, video, photos, gps etc. You will not be able to test distance or signal strength.
