Ok, I am a really real newbie. Just got my first uav and it is a Mavic 2 Pro. So I am learning the laws and learning the toy so I will read as much as I can on this site and ask questions when I need some guidance!
Welcome to our forum, Crossboi, from Hauptmann in the friendly skies of Texas.
You'll find that the M2P almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. BTW, I attended college in Hayward--at that citadel of higher learning, Chabot College! Though I now live in Texas, I do most of my flying in the SF Bay area.
Read your manual, and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have several fellow Bay Area peeps among our membership, and over 100,000 more from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby. Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!
Glad you've joined us!

I think you provided a lot of good advice. The only thing I would add, having first owned a Mini before (quickly) moving to a M2. Pretend you don't have obstacle avoidance on your M2 and fly as if you don't. That will improve your skill and judgement.
I think I need to take the advice of "practice using 'Find My Drone'" as I haven't tried to do that yet, but see the wisdom in such a fire drill. Do you @Hauptmann have any advice for practicing such a 'fire drill'?
Don't forget to read the manual![]()
Last night I was specifically looking for the details of "find my drone" in the manual. If it's there it'd not in the index and I couldn't find it when I scrolled through the manual.
