Mavic arrived yesterday and i'm looking to travel with it quite bit. i've heard that the batteries need to be carefully stored when flying? is this correct? Do we really need Lipo Bags when flying? the batteries will be in my checked luggage.

Check with your airline, but usually all batteries except the one installed in the device are NOT allowed in checked luggage, you have to take them in cabin luggage. No special packaging needed. Tons of threads about that already.

Ah great, thanks. Seems if its under 50w its ok in checked luggage if its attached to mavic. Spares need to be in hand luggage.

cheers

Do we really need Lipo Bags when flying?
No. You just need to cover the battery terminals. See more details here (if you're in the US).
