UK military shooting down UAVs now...

im all for the military being able to shoot down drones flying over their airspace.

The time and resources these incursions take up at RAAF Base Amberley are ridiculus. Would save a lot of time to blast them and toss them in the bin
Sorry this is not going to be a super popular response: Not me, the US military has no business using military weapons inside or outside the military base located on US soil; maybe just small arms and only for personal or self-defense. Particularly not against US citizens or their equipment. Understandable decade or more ago after 9/11 but it's time to put that behind us; if there are security concerns at a military base, it's time to organize and mobilize suitable domestic security resources but never US troops conducting military operations. Can't trust that, not willing to take that change especially under today's circumstances where everything is exaggerated and overblown, there is no transparency, and dishonesty is the order of the day. Our troops have plenty of opportunities to stretch their legs all over the world if they wish but not against American citizens flying drones. Again, just to be clear if you invade the base, the military can stop you using the least amount of force necessary not including grenades, missiles, bombs, or fighter aircraft. I think it's like that in a lot of places around the world and sadly, I'm not yet ready to escalate the "war on drones" to where if you see one, just shoot it down.

Here's a story:

Maybe that’s you
Our military and its use is not so distrusted here in Australia. The USA cant get its **** together with domestic security

Only if it is a DJI drone. Aeroscope cannot detect any other brand of drone.
Beg to differ. Aeroscope can detect Autel, Yuneec, Hubsan, DJI and most other drones with a control frequency of either 2.4 or 5.8gHz... what it can't do is link that broadcast to a specific proprietary DJI UUID tied to the fliers personal details.

Source: Mads Tech - Aeroscope unit teardown and inspection (a really interesting and informative review).

Military grade weapons wouldn't be needed to take down a consumer drone. Any bullet that goes up tends to come down. The response would be commensurate with the risk.

Another drone would be able to take down or disrupt an invasive drone. All you need to do is disrupt the communications or disable one rotor. Or the three-hundred-and-forty-four-millimeter Lepage glue gun.
