Using two tablets for control

For as long as I have had my Mavic Pro (2017) I have used an Acer Iconia 7" to control my flights. Now long ago I realised I can't update the software as the Acer can't run the newer versions but I'm happy with what I have and just never connect to the internet. This setup has been 100% solid for me and still is.

In our house we now have a 10" Lenovo which I thought might be nice to use now and again, but not all the time

My question is if I download the current DJI software to the new tablet will it force the Mavic to update before I can use it then make it useless for the older tablet?

Are you referring to updating the firmware? If so, no, you won't need to update the firmware when using a different mobile device and/or version of DJI GO.
