I'm recording in MP4 and editing my video with VSDC. It allows conversion to other formats after editing. After editing and saving, the same video size in different formats was

mp4 2.8GB
avi 412mb
mpg 75mb

I'm not an 'expert in this, so wouldn't be the person to say, but I really couldn't tell the difference in the 3 videos on my computer. I'm not doing professional work, but do want nice quality. I post on Youtube and Facebook.

* What format to you save videos in?
* Is there a difference in quality I'm not seeing?

I normally save as MP4. Mainly because I know my TV will accept this format. I enjoy watching my finished work on the large screen.

MP4
and I use Davinci Resolve 16.2 by BlackMagicDesign.com Very powerful complete package. There is a free version that has most of the paid Studio version which is a one time $299 fee.

I save in mp4 usually. I don't see any difference in quality as well. But it doesn't really matter, because you can change the format at any time
