VLOS, Drone size is it part of your deal list?

Thanks for all the comments. Being new I had not thought about adding strobes to a Mini 4 Pro to make it more visable for maintain VLOS.
I’ve setup one of the custom buttons to control the landing led on my Mini 4 Pro. If I’m ever unsure I just flick the button a few times to make sure I’m looking at the right blob in the sky!

I used these. Good price, built well. I used hook and hook Velcro to attach.

Experienced pilots will be well aware of this issue so i am posting it as a warning to new pilots reading this, be careful of the weight of these lights especially if flying a sub 250g drone the advert says they are "suitable for" Mini series but they are not if you want to stay below 250g -

Thanks.

I was going to fit one to my Mini 2 SE when i started flying thankfully i read a thread here about them taking the weight over 249g so i decided not to, I know its highly unlikely pilots would have their drones weighed but I prefer the peace of mind knowing its under weight so I have nothing to worry about if i get pulled by the man.

In the US, some modelers make and fly really large scale plane models that definitely have increased VLOS, and using larger standard off the shelf hobbyist drones would be a way of legally increasing your VLOS. But even though attaching LEDs does make your Drone dramatically more visible the further out you fly at night and in daylight, the FAA doesn’t recognize it as a way to legally increase your VLOS, they are only required for use as anti-collision lights. You still must be able to see your
Drone without the use of any other devices, and only corrective lenses are allowed. I guess they are taking what if’s into consideration such as what if the light fails, etc.

I would prefer the mini and if I had done more research I would have found I can put strobes on it. As much as I hate taking tests I continue to slowly edge towards attempting to get the part 107. As a recreational pilot it would resolve my intent for flight issues. Allowing me to do something non recreational anytime and still be legal.
So much free material on the web to help you study for the 107. PrepWare has the Remote Pilot App that has several options, $4.99 being the cheapest. It's what I used
