Does anyone have a recommendation for a wide angle for the Mavic 4 Pro. Thus far I think that the wide-angle lens made by STARTRT sold on Amazon may be the best although it appears from photos that the bottom two gimbal lenses are fully exposed to the elements. Jack Sloan on his YouTube channel has a review of one early release of a wide-angle lens for the M4P but it looks big and clunky, and it appears that the bottom two lenses are exposed as well. I usually buy Freewell filters, but they have no wide-angle lenses for the M4P.

I am looking for the same and I also saw Jake's video so I decided to wait for the OEM because I doubt any of the aftermarket versions won't be cut rate like the one reviewed by Jake. I won't need it until next year so I can wait but it should be shortly when all the aftermarket versions start to appear so I guess ymmv.

I would rather just take a pano shot and merge the photographs in LR in post. More convenient and flexible, available at any time (don’t have to land the drone to fit the lens) and still have the high resolution basic wide lens when you need it. Saves bucks too.

Would that not be part of the design to lessen the added weight of the product?
How much added weight will the gimbal handle before the system fails?

Pano stitching is the way to go. And you end up with a larger file size.
A pano stitch also eliminates the wide angle edge distortion, especially present in the corners, while covering the same field of view.

Pano stiching is fine, unless your subject moves. You also cannot stitch a video. I did have good luck with Freewell on the M3 Cine. It produced infinitesimally more pleasing images than the DJI offering. The Wide on the Mavic 3 Pro Cine makes the gimbal bobble, frequently getting a warning about exceeding the gimbal range. I like wides, but it is my style, not necessarily others. Kind of sitting on my hands on the M4P Creator due to this issue.

You see trains move:

Since I picked up the Mavic 4 Pro Creator this weekend, I went to try it out at my favorite location. I had ordered the StartRC wide angle. It works just fine. Not quite as good as the Freewell ones for the Mavic 3 Cine, or DJI's. It is just fine. Kind of a PIA having to put it on after turning the drone on. I also discovered it needs to be removed when you change batteries as well, duh. It can get internal reflections at some acute angles to the sun at low sun angle.

So as an interim, it will work. I suspect others will come along that may be better.

^Do you think DJI will come out with the OEM wide angle lens for the M4P or do you think they can't overcome the issues?

Statistically, they (DJI) have made one for virtually every model they have released in the last 4 years. They may be spooked by the gimbal lock end collision issue. There seems to be more space between the flat face of the camera and any attached filter. This can be the source internal reflections. There are ways to fold the lens flatter. There may be patent issues to overcome with that solution. It would solve the gimbal collision issue. Really, I have had most of DJI's offering on my drones over the years. The only one that had competition was the Freewell version for the Mavic 3/Cine. I found the images from their offering to be more pleasing, aside from also having the Anamorphic being offered in the same set. Also on an interesting note, unlike other models it does not have wide angel detected notice. So there is either not a magnet detector for the lens or there is some kind of proprietary thing going on with the contacts for E-ND filters.

I have had a bit of time to fiddle with the STARTRC wide angle attachment to the Mavic 4 Pro. In many of my images I found the lower right corner to be slightly blurred , or out of focus. Some images had no issues. Obviously this was due to f-Stop and brightness of the image. I returned my first one over this. True to form Amazon did the return, I received another a day later. Gads, while it does not happen all too terribly often, they sent me a used unit. It was open and the plastic case was cracked. The accessories was undamaged inside. Tried it out in a more controlled manner. Ugh, the upper left corner had the issue this time. It looks like they may have two things going on here. Lack of QC testing or a design that does not register the lens optically in the correct position every time. Again with the lack of alternatives, I ordered a third one. It will be here later this week. If it was not for the corner issue, it would be acceptable.

I had similar issues with CPL filters on the Mavic 3 Pro. Took several brands till I found one that didn't have that problem. Ironically, it was the STARTRC version on that drone.
