I really like this iOS drone app, Weather4Fly. The layout is very nice with color-coded info boxes and it provides a brief flight assessment for your specific drone at a specific time and location. Further details are also listed such as drone specific concerns and recommendations that allows for a quick and easy way to determine when it’s safe to fly in specific time windows in specific areas for your specific drone.

For instance, today I’m supposed to do some inspections for a farm property in another city and the app clearly tells me that I should not fly my Mini 5 Pro at all today (no fly windows today), but choosing to fly with caution if I choose Mavic 4 Pro up to 1 PM and then it changes to no flying past 1 PM due to wind risks.

There’s also a 5 day forecast to help plan flight windows in specific areas as well providing weather metrics, flight recommendations, and flight assessments for each individual day of the forecast. You also get a no-fly-zone map and some flight tools, which I find to be valuable.

From what I’ve read, the developer is a drone pilot himself and he’s definitely put in a good amount of time, effort and expertise to make this app friendly and very usable for people who fly drones. There’s a lot of great info in the free version, and the premium features aren’t that expensive. I’ve read where new updates are coming out soon to make this even better and that also includes support for the Apple Watch, which is also something I’m interested in. Here’s the app…

Here’s a few screen shots, but check it out for free if you’re looking for a nice drone app.

Wow, reminds me of that song from The Who…..I can see for miles 😂

The good good news is, the developer appears to be very responsive if you report this. He quickly added the Mavic 4 Pro a choice in a new releases when I contacted him.

I noticed it missing initially, too. To me, it meant the app wasn't current. Found it in the list yesterday! Thanks!

Just got the app and it looks good to me. Will see how it goes after using it a few time. With winter, I'm not sure how much I'll be flying right now. Thanks for the app

Just downloaded the free version and it did not detect rain in my area; its been drizzling or pouring for hours; I'll watch it for a few days to ascertain if its useful.

A look out of the window and trees is enough to establish current weather plus a glance at a weather radar map to check whats coming down.

This happened to me too last night when it had been and was still raining and sleeting, but zero precipitation was reported on the app even though my other weather apps (Weather Bug, AccuWeather, NOAA, Storm Radar, etc) showed rain and sleet. I’m not sure if the apps data source is the problem in terms of not being accurate or if it’s the app not parsing the data correctly when populating the fields, or?

Hi everyone, the developer of the app here! 👋

First of all, thank you so much for the feedback—it is incredibly valuable to me, and I'm looking into all of it.

Just to clarify, the app relies on Apple WeatherKit for its data. I’m checking right now to see if the discrepancy is coming from the source or if it's an issue with how I'm parsing that data (like the visibility unit conversion). I’ll update you all as soon as I find the root cause and will release a fix immediately.

Thanks again for the support!

It's probably just as accurate as your local weather forecast, which may sometimes vary depending on which TV station you watch. Out here in the hinterlands of western Colorado, forecasted rains have a habit of never materializing.

I’m really like this new update. The NFZ maps are definitely greatly improved. Looking forward to seeing more new features added. Thank you by Arda!

Yes. Weather forecasts have always been chaotic, so supercomputer-developed models are used to produce accurate predictions. However, accuracy can be low, especially for forecasts longer than three days. Thank you.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I'm currently awaiting approval email from the FAA to use their published NOTAM information in the app. If approved, I will integrate the FAA's NOTAM service into the app. If not, I will try using another service. See you on next version, I am fixing "kilometer to mile conversion problem" right now.
