Whats wrong with my adaptor that links my mavic mini se controller to my ipad?

Hi all
recently went to my local DJI store (3 Hour Drive) to get an adaptor to allow me to connect my iPad to my mini se remote controller (micro usb--- usb) when i returned home I promptly discovered that it didn't work. ive tried multiple different lightning cables to connect my phone and none of them are working. Any ideas as for why its not working?

Is the controller damaged? It looks like from the picture that the stick is damaged, I wonder if there is internal damage?

no i can confirm that its just the stick i accidentally broke it while putting it in the base of the controller. i know that the short cable it came with works though

Does the adaptor need to be 'OTG'? I think that means that there is a bit of 'odd' wiring present inside the plug going into the controller.
Besides, the combination you show means it would be fairly easy to exert a fair bit of leverage on the controller's socket. I would suggest you would do better to get something like this Adapter USB a Socket To Micro- B Plug Right Angled OTG Cable Extension | eBay .
That is just an example of one, I am neither recommending that particular cable nor not recommending it.
I have a few, from a different source, but recollect they were cheaper then that. If you go looking for one make sure you get the correct 'handing' in the controller end.
