I agree about the dogs, my 2 go crazy, even if the drone is on YouTube.
I have not come across a Dog that did not seem to want to eat my Mavic. It must be the sound it makes.

Hell I haven't come across a neighbor that hasn't wanted to do the same.I have not come across a Dog that did not seem to want to eat my Mavic. It must be the sound it makes.

Haha. I have been corrected!Oh yeah mister? I don't see your wings...
Come at me, bro.
Sorry, the FAA calls us pilots. I had to study and take a test to earn the privileges of the title. The FAA also refers to our quads as aircraft as well.People who fly drones are not pilots, they are operators or enthusiasts. If somebody wants to become a real pilot they need to go to flight school, fly an actual aircraft, pass all their tests and earn the priveleges of the title.

Not sure if I should be offended by your remark or not, were you calling me a douche for pointing out we are actually pilots, the OP for flying over people or just being rude in general? My old limo driver had his pilots license. After a night of partying, drinking, strip club, casino etc. I said lets go rent a plane so we did. Crossed over the runway w/out letting air traffic control know, pissed off some folks, then "buzzed the tower" (my house) while my wife waived from the deck while holding my newborn son.
Sorry, I got sidetracked on memory lane. Moral of the story is, just because you're an official pilot doesn't mean you're not a complete douche like my driver was/is...and myself at that point in my life.

Not to ruffle any feathers but i used to own and fly a piper tri pacer. And I have been flying RC fixed wing planes since I was a kid. If you are capable of flying an RC fixed wing around the pattern a few times and landing safely then I would stretch the word pilot. But the fact is that we are in reality all drone operators. There is no real flying ability involved. It's a video game that moves.
Sadly trueActually I called myself a douche, verbatim.
But beyond that my general point is that it doesn't matter what kind of test you pass, you can still be a world class jack ***. Not you specifically, but people in general. All people. All colors. All creeds.

I have a big family gathering next month with 20-ish under 14.
This post might have been a life safer for my 1 month old Mavic.
It's a moot point, there is always someone that feels the need to poop on someone else, just because they feel entitled by some notion in their mind that it needs to be so.For people who are only looking at their FPV screens that's true. But fully certified pilots fly VLOS, always. Which means that they are able to fly all procedures manually, nose in, nose out, in different weather conditions, without aid of GPS and barometer. And using any screen is forbidden during the training and exam. Of course a full RPA ground school as well as flight preparation exam is part of the requirements. At least that's the way it goes in my country.
I even have to have a medical approval every two years. I work often with a PPL instructor (we give drone workshops to mainly PPL pilots who are interested) and he certainly sees me as a fellow pilot.
As a new Mavic user, coming from Inspire1, I must admit that keeping it in sight is a challenge, so I made the front arms white, which helps a little.
Let's draw a parallel with another, more common, scenario.
You're passing by a group of kids playing when one of them throws a rock at your car, breaking your window or chipping off paint.
Ya'know...kids are kids...they don't know better...they were playing. They didn't want to do harm...they just threw a small rock.
Did you do anything to put them in danger? Well, the drone might've crashed into them...or your foot might've slipped onto a car gas pedal, running them over...but it didn't. Some other damage was done.
I agree. This was a superb example of a false equivalency.God good, what a terrible comparison.
