I am Debating myself: Should I spend the money on The Avata 2 fly more kit and then spend the extra 200 bucks for a "real" controller 3 ( Sorry but I'm an old school RC'er at heart and I am perfectly happy with sticks and ACRO or Horizon. If I want a "wand" I'll hit up the Harry Potter gift shop at Universal ).
I guess what I want to know is if I get the Avata 2 will My flying style kill it?
I am after all an addicted FPVer and this thing is- Its gonna see some action (not full-on Bando Freestyle) BUT I want it to be able to take a few licks like the Cinelogs Do. Do any of you Avata 2 owners (Who also Fly other FPV Drones) Dare fly your DJI in the same manner you would fly say your Diatone or speedybee. I will fly my Cinelog 30 thru a course without to much worry. Will it be the same if I Spend the cash on an Avata 2?
By the way I am planning on getting the new controller and goggles anyway.....The Air unit 4 can't be far away....Right?

If you can swing the extra doe, why not? This is a question that only you can answer really. But if you are as you say, an addicted FPV pilot, I'd go for it.

For the past 6 months, I have been 100% MC only when flying DJI FPV and Avata 1. I really wanted to get to know the MC capabilities and I didn't want the RC to interfere with that. So far I am totally happy with the MC and feel comfortable taking the drone anywhere (whereas at first I didn't feel like I could go into tight spaces or long range with the MC). To me, there is no loss while using the MC but as you know, when you want to go manual mode you'll need the RC. So I say go with both!

I may like the MC-- Maybe it will be fun. Worst case I can Ebay the MC. I usually fly in manual (or acro). ( I like Horizon on some whoops) So might be a learning thing.
I know the Avata 2 flies way better than the 1 and If I buy it now since I'm getting the other stuff, I see myself saving a few bucks (Even with purchasing the MC I probably will sell).
If the drone itself will stand hitting a few flags or debris now and then like my Geps.. ..well, That's a new drone in the hanger instead of the parts bin.

I get you on the RC in manual. It's the most fun I have flying the Avata 1 and 2. As I've said in other threads, though, that's only about 25% of my Avata flying because for me it's exhausting.

Fortunately, flying with the MC is also an absolute blast, so I wind up using it the other 75%. For me, the ability to just let go of that trigger and have the drone stop and hover like any typical DJI drone is a big, big value proposition.

There's also that "fighter jet" feel that is really cool to some of us.

If you go for it, you will need the FPV RC 3. Longtime FPV veterans will not enjoy the Avata without it, and their well-honed control method.

I would recommend keeping the MC3, even if you don't really care for it, because you will find it's a great way to share your hobby with friends and family.

Keeping the MC3 will also increase resale value if you ever sell the avata 2, or maybe the next will still support the RC3 and you'll lose money having to sell the A2 without any controller.

As to durability... hard to say. The Avata 1 could take quite a beating, the 2 is lighter but also faster so depending on how you fly it may or may not be more likely damaged.

that "fighter jet" feel
If only the MC could be used in manual. Don't get "fighter jet feel" when pushing the stick maintains the exact same set groundspeed and there's no way to play with the energy...

100% with you on that!

I am mainly flying my Avata 2 with the RC3, especially at locations with risk of loosing GPS and ground tracking sensors (e.g. indoors) and therefore the Avata 2 falling into Atti mode. With the MC3 it will not be reliably controllable then, while this is no problem for experiences pilots using the RC3.

DJI water bottle, valued at $25
I am a little snobish on the containers I use to quench my thirst. Too bad it wasnt valued at 40.....Then they would have a deal!!!
I'm still on the fence BUT starting to climb down to the "Get the drone too" side

If you are talking about how the original AVATA flies. I was not a fan of the "Flutter" myself and the ones I flew kept me from actually buying one. Aside from the fact that they could be heard from a mile away! lol. Talking to the FPV'ers that have gotten the 2, I am told that the "Flutter" has been tamed a bunch.

The Avata 1/2 will not go in to hockey puck mode (a.k.a ATTI) as long as there is sufficient lighting for VPS to function.

I may have to wait a few weeks to pay for it ( and to think of a good excuse for the spent 1500 Maybe for business? ) lol BUT heres the deal I am looking at.

If you already have Goggles 2 and/or Integra, you're gonna love the Goggles 3 👍🏻 So comfortable. The re-engineered rubber face seal is really good.

Also, I highly recommend getting lenses from HonsVR if you have astigmatism. I got a pair for both Integra and 3.

knock on wood!! I will hit the buy button in less than three more weeks!! Drone and all, I liked the Videos taken from the Avata 2 on here and elsewhere (Great Stuff!) I will most likely switch everything to manual straight out of the box.. Again Knock on wood lol.

Just remember it's a cinewhoop, and true to form, it flies like one. It's no racer.

So a little less nimble, not as fast (Although 60mph in Manual, which I've done, is pretty thrilling 😁), but I'll go places with it I'd never take an unprotected drone, and that has a lot of value to me.

It's a big part of why I'm having a neogasm anticipating you know what.

I am really starting to love the way whoops fly they are indeed a new animal compared to a freestyle Drone BUT WAY less worry on My part while flying them ( I have a ROMA that makes the prop people a bundle of cash)! I am hoping It will fly much like my Cinelog its great fun to fly!

I have an iFlight A85 HD cinewhoop that feels very similar to the Avata in manual.

I haven't flown it once after I got my Avata.

Reason: I can flip that switch in the FPV RC to N or S, and take a breath.

I have a switch at the top of the Jumper T-Lite RC ($80) configured to switch between Rate and Angle mode, but lacking GPS and VPS, all that really accomplishes is altitude hold.
