Can you connect dji assistant to Mavic Pro via iPhone?

Hi everyone, I am a rookie owner of a mavic pro, I am trying to get everything right before start first flight. I have been trying to connect the Mavic Pro to DJI Assistant thru the iPhone but it is unable to sense my device. I connected the iPhone to the RC.

Is the DJI assistant only meant to be used on the PC as I notice a lot of post and they are connected to PC. If so then what is the iOS app use for?

The DJI assistant is intended for maintenance and updates only (in case an update fails with the app) while the iOS and Android apps are intended for flying.
