HTC One M8 for MP

I have an old HTC One M8 that I plan to use with the MP when it finally arrives.

1. Will the M8 work with the MP, read some posts it does and some it doesnt.
2. Does the phone need a cell service signal as it doesnt currently have a sim card in it.

I started using my old M9. The cable on the side of the remote wont reach the micro usb port on the M8 because of its location. You will have to use the usb port at the bottom of the remote. When I do this, it wont always work. I kind of gave up and just started using my S7 again.

My HTC One M8 doesn't work with the DJI app so I'm being forced to get a new phone. My old man's Oppo phone however (which isn't on the DJI approved list) works fine.

My HTC One M8 works allright but not perfect. Connection in controller isn't a problem. But app doesn't work perfect on this phone, sometimes the app crashes and the drone starts return to home.
