Reduced photo quality on image edges

While it's true that increasing the F number as mentioned above will improve the depth of field, it's definitely not normal to have consistent softness in one spot or edge. A de-centered lens was actually a not-uncommon defect with the original Mavic Pro - the first one I had was replaced by...

No FAA waiver but a demanding client

I think it's safe to say we all like money, but having integrity and ethics means doing the right thing at the right time because you know it's right, not because it's convenient or you need the money. If your client continues pushing you to fly after knowing it's illegal, he's demonstrating his...

Hand Catching Mavic Pro with Stock Settings (Simple/Safe)

Awesome- I agree that it works great! Only thing that didn't seem all that clear to me in the video (although I knew that's what you were doing) was continuing to hold the left stick down and not letting up on it to get it to do that.

Hand Catching Mavic Pro with Stock Settings (Simple/Safe)

Didn't seem all the clear in the video what he was doing with the controls to get it to land that way. Here's what I do, also stock settings, which works perfectly every time - no "catching", "grabbing", chasing, or special acrobatics- it just lands itself on your hand with no fuss: 1. Hover...

Motor Stop and Crash in Auto Takeoff Mode

This sounds like the exact same auto takeoff problem that happened to me just about a year ago after first getting my Mavic. Several other folks also reported it happening on these forums around the same time frame. I reported it to DJI and they suggested that I send it in, but I never did as...

New type of gps tracker coming out soon

Or you could just get one of these today, which are already field proven and work off the grid, and be using it next week. https://www.amazon.com/Marco-Rocket-Location-Recovery-System/dp/B01F4DOB5C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1508518435&sr=8-1&keywords=marco+polo+tracker

Your drone will soon be narcing on you

Let's see- drone regulation continues to increase, but the number of incursions are also increasing- even though regulation is also on the rise. It seems pretty apparent to me that the increasing number of incursions is pretty much a direct correlation to the increasing number of drones out...

Ordering from DJI directly is a NIGHTMARE!

My Mavic Pro was delivered directly from DJI in China to my UPS Store address (Alaska) without any problems a year ago December. It was signed for by the normal desk folks there. And I just got my new props - also direct from DJI - the same way this week.

Yet another bad news story for our hobby

There IS a long documented history of aircraft damage caused by single birds. I've personally seen the results of several of them, including a swan which completely trashed the engine of a 737, to the cost of several million dollars, requiring an emergency landing. In the world of aviation...

    Notify your representatives

Why do you think the FAA is doing a terrible job? Seems to me they've done a great job- they've created a set of explicit rules governing commercial operations, with the ability to get waivers from any of them, which will accommodate improvements in technology which outpace regulations...

Tidal flow in Turnagain Arm, Alaska

Good point, I hadn't thought of that - I'll bet it was the VPS! I didn't think to turn it off, and it was over not only water but also swirling chunks of ice moving in the fast current. Thanks! I'm adding that to my checklist right now. Wow, if you're used to heating off firewood, you're...
