This is exactly what i did and it works perfectly. Its less then a $10.00 fix, most of us were hoping that DJI would do a modification to the earlier bracket not knowing that DJI was getting ready to roll out their now controller with built-in monitor.

I don't know if this helps but I use a ND-8 filter and shutter opening to take pictures. I shoot is 1080 only.

You are correct, when their is an update it will flash on your screen.
