Let this guy know how misleading he is...

I personally could care less what anyone says on their youtube channel. Relax, & go fly your choice of bird.

Active Track - On the Water testing

I had another opportunity to play with active track from the boat again early Saturday morning. I learn a little something every time I fly.

Active Track - On the Water testing

I finally had the another opportunity to play with Active Track on the water. The last time I tried this it was nearly a disaster (a story for another day). I put the drone up in the air at the Marina and had it follow the boat. Leaving the marina I used the 'Profile' mode but nothing ever...

    Threading the needle

I'm not sure, fat fingers, small phone, bad eyesight, damp hands...all of the above. I also got a little flustered by the boat traffic. It was pretty difficult being captain and pilot at the same time in that busy environment. I got back to the dock, hookep up my iPad and it worked just...

What is the best practice in flying over the Sea?

I've flown to and from my boat a few times. I've basically been practicing, taking baby steps, before going deep sea fishing or whale watching with it. I can tell you that is it pretty easy to land in your hand (with all sensors disabled) if you are moving slowly or just floating. With that...

    Landing on moving boat

I believe you definitely want to disable all sensors before you flying back the boat. Obstacle avoidance and landing protection are nothing but trouble on the water. Also I wouldn't land land the drone in your hand, instead grasp the drone firmly by the body while hovering, or slowly flying...

    Threading the needle

Ok, I'll share an experience I had this weekend that raised my heart rate. The plan was to use Activetrack to follow my boat from the Marina out into Cape Cod Bay. I thought my better half was going to come with me, but at the last minute she bailed. Of course since I had already scheduled...

    Histogram

Moral of this story - ALWAYS CHECK THE HISTOGRAM. I'm getting to be a decent pilot but I'm discovering pretty quickly I'm a lousy photographer. I took my Mavic 2 Pro striped bass fishing and I figured I try a Polar Pro 32ND/PL filter because it was a bright sunny morning . The bite was on...

Osprey (the bird) - close encounter

I did some flying yesterday and the day before at the beach and Marina. Lot's of seagulls around and the Osprey's were around too, but this time not a single bird gave the drone a second look. One flight isn't enough evidence to say but I think the bright skin (red/yellow) I put on mine is...

    Imagine my surprise

I personally would never land the drone in my hand with landing protection on. IMHO that is just too risky. I shut the landing protection off, hover just above my head, & reach up and grasp the body firmly, and then throttle down the left stick.

    Insurance options

Thanks for pointing out the search option. I had already used it & I read them all, but didn't see any option for folks who cant get a Statefarm policy (CA, MA & RI) outside of using my homeowners policy. Skywatch doesn't seem at all like what I need. I will call my agent.

    Insurance options

I thought I'd be able to get coverage through StateFarm but my zip code comes up as a no-go. Apparently they are not "actively market new business in Massachusetts (or RI)" at this time so I am forced to look into other options. DJ refresh is not a god option for me as I plan to use this...

    New & Scared!

How is crashing going to help? I'd go with the practice, practice, practice method. I was pretty nervous for my first few flights but less so each time. I only have 19 flights under my belt but each time I fly I gain confidence. I will say that having a good display is really helpful. For...

Osprey (the bird) - close encounter

Oh great, that should be a lot of fun with the Seagulls. Lucky for me skins are pretty inexpensive and east to remove :)

Osprey (the bird) - close encounter

Meet Ronald McDonald, formally EagleOne. If the birds find this skin appealing, I will peal it off and try again.
