    Interference from industrial laser

In DJI Go 4, you can go into the settings under the remote controller. Here you can access some information on the signal strength, interference and frequency. This gets out of my area of expertise, but there is a plain English section to say Signal strength : good/poor/etc. It can even...

    Atti mode Mavic 2 pro

Are you doing your RePL through a training school? When I did mine the school had a fleet of Phantoms that they made us use for insurance reasons. Nice to practice with an insured “rental” too.

    Port of Singapore

I find boats fascinating, nice video. The boat in the background at 1:10 is the $300 million Motor Yacht A, I saw it off the coast in Thailand a few weeks ago. It’s impossible to miss once you’ve seen it. The same owner has Sailboat A, Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko.

2020 winter shots, fresh from the mountains

Very nice stuff, thanks for sharing :-)

Finding it difficult to legally fly my drone

As I understand it Open Sky will only guide you to understand the airspace. Land use is where the councils or national parks may impose bylaws that restrict us on the ground.

Using iPad as second image preview

The smart controller has a HDMI video out port on the top. I haven’t used it but this enables the connection of an external monitor/recorder. ie small HD/atamos/any brand.

Would you do this with your Mavic 2 Pro and a strobe???

How about running your strobe while doing an IMU calibration connected to the computer to test the effect it has? I was really surprised to see a video feed appear via each sensor when I did this. If the downward sensor looks different to the side sensors then you’ll have a good idea of what...

Help me answer the "What's Next?" question from beginners.

Sounds like you are tracking well with the planning. I would offer them a take away template Operations Manual that includes some considerations for maintenance schedules, checklists, planning template etc. For some people doing a course and getting some form of accreditation is the end of the...

Help me answer the "What's Next?" question from beginners.

Congratulations on the growing project and good on you for advocating safe and legitimate practices. The school I got my license with in Australia had a good balance of practical and theory. UAVAir.com.au I found the obstacle courses over safety cones really valuable. No looking at the screen...

    Sydney Observatory Hill city park?

I agree it can be confusing but it is worth noting that there are different levels of rules for different credentials with CASA and drones. You are welcome to try to interpret the laws as written in the Federal Register of Legislation, it's available on the web but without a law degree that...

My zoom is in a 44ft gum tree out in the bush.

Can I ask how secure the stickers feel? They look great but I’m curious about their longevity. Anything that may come loose and tangle with a prop would be bad news.

Mavic 2 pro smart controller or crystal sky ultra 7.5

I have about 18 hours of flight time with the smart controller and M2P. I am happy and would recommend it. Set up/start up time is really fast. Only complaint is a very occasional lag in camera controls via touch screen input. I’ve noticed this 2-3 times in 18 hours of flight logs. I am now...

    Amid privacy backlash...

If license plate = drone ID then does serial number = VIN number in this case? I think the remote ID is a good thing but the type of data that is offered to the public has to be measured. Let’s hope this helps to shape the industry in a positive way. I do use remote ID as I have to fly in...

    Flying over cars

Good on you for looking at this project from a safe and legal perspective. I can’t offer insights to the US laws on the matter but if you document your effort to mitigate risks and lower the likelihood of an incident. You can prove if ever required, that your intentions were to conduct a safe...
