That's a good idea! Was just looking for a disposal site for one battery. Now I'll keep it for downloads and such. Battery looked like it was about to pop out of the mavic on landing. Kind of disturbing - was 70 F out, normal flight.

Thanks for the input folks. Sounds like the newer generations of dji drones are set up to request compass calibrations different than the older models.

My previous models (Mavic 1, Phantom pro 3 and 4) almost never needed calibrating. If the older models said to calibrate - generally I was near something magnetic and just needed to move the bird. Not the case with this Mavic 2 pro - seems to almost always need a compass cal.. Is this typical...

My Smart controller got held up in Memphis customs - declared "Commercial Invoice is incomplete ". Seems a bit incompetent from DJI, but was really held up for less than a day - now showing that it will meet original arrival date.

Anybody tried the quick shots option? It finally shows up now - but when I try to use it the screen start pixelating - breaking up. Drone seems to do what it is supposed to do - but the crystalsky monitor becomes unusable till I re-boot.

Still seems to provide the functionality of being able to track the bird's orientation vs your position (on a blank map). So unless you bring a wifi/hotspot, you lose that security of being able to check the homepoint on the map. Will add an extra pucker factor for a disconnect rth. I suspect I...

Is the over heating issue only on the ultra bright version? I have the 1000 nit 7.85" . Either way, I'm heading to Arizona in a couple months t do a little droning where it will be 95F - so I upgraded to the new firmware. Maps are gone for those of us without a wifi/hotspot.

Thanks for all the info guys. I have not experienced the overheating issue. I'd prefer to keep the maps working - I think I'll skip this update.

Do the maps you previously downloaded still work?

Thanks for the info. I have only flown once with the new version - map came up blank (map was previously downloaded). So while I was experimenting with trying to get the maps back - the app froze up on me. I had not had any issues with about the last 50 flights with the previous CS version...

Is it possible to download to a previous version? Not trusting this one very much.

Been very happy with the 7.85 CS - was also initially holding out for the ultra but gave up. Very happy with the tablet - after about ten flights - I sold both my goggles and Avegant Glyphs.

Good thoughts. I think having a plan for failure modes is as important as pre-flight checks. These issues range from routine to rare. 1) Tablet Disconnects or Android GO4 App quits working (my experience is about 1/40 flights, I RTH until A/C gets close to home and land manually)...
