$49 firmware upgrade

There is a certain online retailer that "sells" the latest firmware upgrade install for $49. For some reason, that bothers me. I'm all for making a buck or two, but this just seems like taking advantage of people who are uninformed and do not know that a firmware upgrade is a free, simple (well, not so simple at times...it took me several tries), do-at-home process. I know, I know..."don't buy it if you don't want it". I get that, but there probably an awful lot of people out just starting out in drones who might think that buying the latest firmware upgrade is a necessity. For this reason, I will never shop at that online store.
Just my opinion. What are your thoughts?

Yes. I'm not going to name them though. It might be a great company and do not want to hurt their business because of one little thing that I don't agree with.

I would not hesitate to name an unethical retailer.DJI provides updates free and just because people are uninformed is no reason to take advantage of them.

Meh, I looked at it... Weird, but I don't think its a scam per say... They are just saying they will update your drone for a fee if you don't want to OR have fear of it... Some people actually PAY to have an outlets changed in their homes as well....It takes 5 bucks and 5 min.. instead they will pay 100+ to have someone else do it...To each their own!

how Often we read here about update went wrong with aircraft out of commission because of that.
Owning a Lamborghini brings different kind of maintenance bill.
I bet whoever can afford that bird rich enough to let others do the upgrade.

Looking at the ad, it simply appears a business is offering to do it for you. My best gues is there are some particulars about this particular AC that is root cause for headaches. They suffer the headache, you reap the upgrade.
