I can’t seem to get for normal speed when I am using active track mode. Even when I switch the selector from the green slow to the red fast it’s still much slower than not using active track.

Am I missing something?

Are you saying that under manual control you could cause the drone to follow something moving at x mph but that when the drone itself is trying to follow the something then it will lose the something if the something is travelling at x mph?

'active track' and APAS use sensors to detect obstacles. More sensors: more processing. No DJI obstacle detection on anything smaller than the Inspire 3 is capable of working out a safe route at high speed. On top of that, if you're trying to track something fast while in SPORT mode, all the sensors are switched off.

page 28 of the manual
"There are two options when selecting the tracking speed limit. Safe mode limits the speed to no more than 12 m/s and Max mode to no more than 20 m/s. Please note that the aircraft cannot avoid obstacles if the speed exceeds 12 m/s."
