Air 2s underbelly LED strobe

Greetings. I’m hoping a future firmware will address this, but I would like to see a way to strobe the built-in white landing/underbelly LED on the Air 2s. We can toggle it on/off, but not strobe it. Here’s to hoping.
Well just remember that the Mavic 2 has had them lights (we have two) for 3 years and we didn't get a firmware update for them, so yes you can hope, but history says buy your own strobes:p

Greetings welcome to the forum!

Even if could strobe it would not meet the FAA requirements for night flying

This is how I have mine mounted in flight.
Back far enough to clear sensors.View attachment 131448

The ARCII, in red and white leds, yeah ?
I bought one of these for the back of my M1P and use it for flights I think handy for a strobe for VLOS.
Amazing how much brighter white is over red, but having the 2 makes it easier to see in some circumstances.

On my Mavic Pro, I have one mounted on top in front of the battery and the other mounted behind the drone, still trying to figure out how to get the strobes going on my Air 2S as the Wet Suit is in the way @Phantomrain.org :p

I use to think the more lights the better< Flashing, Lights Strobe Lights , and Lasers until one faithful day when the Cops came to my car door , and although I was not breaking any rules , the light show was causing a Disturbance , the officer said they must have gotten 10 calls that day . After that I stripped the lights down to the Minimum.

Today there were two guys racing there Remote Cars in the Parking lot where I was parked flying my drone.
They had everyone attention until they started going under the parked cars and that was the cops limit.

They were told to stop driving the cars and than walked over to my car and asked me to land near the grass away from the parking lot. I was relieved to know that I did not have the flashing lights to blind the officer.

To much Attention can be a bad thing.
This was me when i was all gung ho on being bright , and seen.
Today, I fly with the Minimum , and try to get up as quietly as possible .

Off topic, did you try inserting the Arc 5 strobes in those 3D-printed Mav2 Strobe holders?

I purchased these from Aerial-Pixel for the Arc V's and the MA2.

I can get two strobes on the front arms but not the back due to the straps of the life jacket.

Thought about using zip ties to mount them to the rear straps.

It's all about sacrificing one accessory for another.

Strobes, prop guards, tracking units, etc. take up room on a small airframe.

Thank you very much @MA2 317 for confirming this, which one exactly did you purchase from Aerial-Pixel? I see several with different compatibilities. Please let me know, thanks again :)

Also, did you experience any difficulty removing and replacing the mounts?

These. Two front arms and two rear.

They have a set that mount vertically on the front legs if you don't want to mount them on the arms.

I like using these as I've purchased the smaller Cree LED's in the past that were shrink wrapped on a circuit board and I would attach by using the 3M fastener.

After repeated installation and removal of the smaller ones, the circuit board became flexed and a couple of the strobes stopped working.

This why I purchased the Arc V's since they are in a plastic case that will stand up to time better than the other ones.

No problems.

The 3d printed material is strong, yet flexible enough that it fits tight. Sort of like a Tupperware lid.

Do I just buy the ones made for the Air 2? I don’t see the Arc V being comptible

Yes.

The link is for the Mavic Air 2 and 2s.

Since they both have the same airframe, the mounts should fit.

The rear strobe mounts will fit with the life jacket, but they weren't designed to fit on that spot of the arm of the aircraft and fit sort of loose. This may interfere with the props flexing during flight conditions and hit the strobes.

As stated above in an earlier post... sacrifice.

I have watched the "tear down" videos of drones on YouTube that is fascinating to see how much stuff is crammed into these things.

For those that have the knowledge of this and can do it, I'm sure somebody could replace the stock LED with a strobe in it's place. ?

Sorry for going astray from the bottom light to the strobes in your post. ☮️

Problem I attached the strips on the front of the arms as well ?

One suggestion on the Lights with the Rescue Jacket , is to pull those front light back about 1/2 inch so they fall into the same spot as the Pontoons. This way your not creating any more Prop Wash.

That hot Pink with the Neon Red is an awesome set up. If you ever loose it, going to be an easy find.

I have the Neon Green Rescue Jacket but now I am wishing I went with the Hot Pink , but that light setup is very cool, have you considered making a place for the lights on the Rescue Jacket ?

I'm thinking of attaching this Arc V strobe to the bottom of the landing gear on my Air 2S. Do you think it would effect the bottom sensors? Update: So far so good. I don't think the strobe on the bottom is messing with the sensors. The drone still goes up if I put my hand under it while hovering.

It may interfere with the VPS on the MA2s 🤔

I know that when I mounted a strobe to the bottom of the Spark years ago, it resulted in a very erratic 30 flight.

It bounced like a pogo stick up and down within twenty feet of launch and had a hard landing in the dark.

Most of the newer Mavics have a landing light on the bottom that assist the aircraft for landing in the dark and may soften the strobe light a bit.

The Spark didn't have that and I think the intense strobing of the light really affected the VPS since it could only "see" the ground every time the strobe flashed. I never had a flight like this before.

I moved the strobe away from the bottom and lit up the landing area with a flashlight. All the flights after that were fine.

It looks like you may have covered the landing light with the strobe?

You might try a piece of cardboard on the front and rear part of the strobe hanging straight down to act as a shade that may help with deflecting the flash from the VPS?

Good luck. :)
