So I bought an Air 3 that the previous owner had been having issues unbinding. For whatever reason, it’s showing in their app as removed from their account but on my end, still shows as bound. However, there are no restrictions and I’m able to pair it to a new controller and everything. Essentially, it still works as though unbound, but it still says it’s bound. Anyone know what might be the issue?

When you add it to your DJI account it tells you it is already bound to another account? If so it would not be possible to bind it. Are you using the account from the previous owner?

It really. When I log into my own account and connect to the drone, in the device management, it shows the drone as bound to another account and I’m unable to unbind it from said account or bind it to mine. However, there are none of the restrictions that normally accompany a drone bound to another account even when using a different controller.

Other than an intellectual curiosity, if it in no way affects your abilty to use and fly it, why does it matter?

Well, I’m a reseller and it will be significantly more difficult if not impossible to sell it in said condition.

As long as the buyer can fly it without restrictions, and you disclose the issue, why would the buyer care, if you otherwise wouldn’t? I wouldn’t care. Are you suggesting the buyer would think you are selling a stolen drone?

Well, I’ve never heard of this issue before and putting myself into the buyers shoes, even to me, it would sound like a scam. I myself didn’t believe the previous owner until I saw everything for myself. Also, it might be an issue with future repairs if it’s sent to DJI. I believe you need to unbind them first but I may be wrong.

If you still feel the need to resolve it properly, then I'd recommend contacting DJI support and explain the dilemma, as it appears you still have communication with the original owner who wishes to unbind it, unlike a found drone where DJI won't help you at all.

Pretty sure if you include relevant photos of the issue, this may be able to be solved.
