all i used to "afford" was kite flying, i'd have a couple thousand feet of line out, tying it off to the truck, leave it up for hours, (took an hour to reel in) listening to the string sing,.. those were the good ole days! (and i was in the middle of nowhere)

I started off doing aerial photography with kites back in the early 90's. I used 35 MM film cameras mounted with a remote actuator to trigger the shutter. This is way before Drones and Digital cameras were a thing. This is also why I still pursue this hobby and profession today.
You just got to love how technology has advanced over the years.
