Air 3 Alaska From Southeast through the Aleutians on a crab boat

Hello All,
I'm new to this forum and glad to be here. I'm a commercial fisherman who recently got into drone videography and spent the summer filming our trip from a boat sailing all the way from Oregon out to dutch harbor.

I'm looking for input/advice on how to spruce up my drone work for next summer. There's an incredible amount of subject material to capture, I just feel like most my shots are very basic, which isn't doing the scenery or animals the justice they deserve. Please let me know thoughts about the filming itself (as in what new shot strategies I can try) as well as the color grade I did in DaVinci Resolve (filmed in d-log m). I used an air 3, but am curious to hear about what people have to say about upgrading for next summer. Flying conditions are usually pretty breezy out in the Aleutians.

As far as anyone is aware, is there really any way to fly in a light rain (I missed so many unbelievable shots due to rain) whether that be a water-resistant model or an aftermarket "rain jacket" that works.

Good Gawd a'mighty.

You have some absolutely stunning footage there. Let's choose some adjectives - dazzling, magnificent, amazing, beautiful, majestic, ... I'm awestruck and envious of being there and experiencing all that.

Your editing is good, but shaggy in a few places. It certainly needs to progress to come near catching up with the high standard of the material you're shot. There's some spelling/proofing to do, too. But you've put together something that kept my rapt attention for sixteen minutes, and I have a very low tolerance for watching most such things, even that by film professionals.

I'm going to cue this up on the television and watch it again tonight with Linda (avid nature photographer and traveler). Once we get past the "WOW!" stage, we may come up with a few suggestions about specifics, for what they're worth. Neither of us pretend to be accomplished editors.

Ok, after watching this on a 50" screen, I'll retract 99% of what I said about the editing being a bit shaggy. I'm really impressed with this video. Amazing. There's some very nice drone flying.

Fergy has a tremendous idea. PBS would jump all over it. You might need to increase the length a big to fit the allotted time for a 30 minute PBS show, but who knows? Ask around!!!!

Amazing footage, absolutely stunning! Now as for the color grading I'd only suggest to watch closely the waveform and vectoscope to achieve consistency in brightness and saturation. A few clips are a bit too much on the bright side and a few a bit too dark. This becomes more obvious and perhaps even a bit distracting when watching the video where clips on the extreme ends of the spectrum are next to each other. But these are all minor things and easily fixable in post. Nothing to take away from the extraordinary collection you brought home.
As for the upgrade the Mavic 4 Pro would seem like an obvious choice but I would also consider Mavic 3 Pro. It would be a lot less expensive (second hand), it is lighter and has smaller footprint too if that matters. More importantly though it has 24mm lens like your Air 3 whereas the M4P has 28mm lens on the main camera. Just something to be aware of. Other than that both very capable drones and the long lens on both on these drones would give you more reach and allow to catch even more distant wildlife .
