Precision landing doesn't always work. Likely just an occasion where it didn't.Didn't think that was the case if using precision setting...

Good point tho' as this is a strange one ... I'm still trying to figure out why his Mavic still carries on to do the RTH when he's manoeuvred around on the way back in.You are right.
Because that's what RTH does.Good point tho' as this is a strange one ... I'm still trying to figure out why his Mavic still carries on to do the RTH when he's manoeuvred around on the way back in.
His initial post implies that this has happened more than once, and that it seems to happen when he makes a choice to change course / orientation during the RTH phase of the flight. I'd agree if this was a 'once upon a time' thing, but just like @Shadow2020 said, I'm curious to know what 'rule' is being broken in the RTH algorithm that would make the home point inaccurate?Because that's what RTH does.
He didn't say he cancelled RTH, so it continues trying to do what RTH does.
He had one case where his RTH was 10 ft from launch point.
That's within the normal range of GPS but a sample size of one observation doesn't tell much.
If he tried 10 times and it was always 10 ft out that would be something different.
There is no rule being broken and his home point is not inaccurate. His initial post implies that this has happened more than once, and that it seems to happen when he makes a choice to change course / orientation during the RTH phase of the flight. Thanks Meta4 - I'll find a place with minimal trees and do some tests. I'll let you know how it goes ...There is no rule being broken and his home point is not inaccurate.
If you understand how RTH works you understand that it can't act that way.
All RTH can do is to go to the stored point.
The OP just made an observation and assumed that it was related to moving the drone during RTH.
It really can't have the effect he guessed it did.
It would be really simple to do some testing if you are interested.
Try it 5 times and you will find that it does not do what he's guessing it did.
I was responding to kilrah who indicates that you can touch the sticks, but 10 feet is a normal error. I was responding that the precision should be better than that... And always has been in my experience. It does, if you dont touch the sticks.
I said that in my post above...
GPS is not pinpoint accurate and has a random error.I was responding to kilrah who indicates that you can touch the sticks, but 10 feet is a normal error. I was responding that the precision should be better than that... And always has been in my experience.
