So I bought a used Mavic Pro Monday night, so Tuesday I headed to Youtube to get some insights on how to fly this thing and use my controls. While doing so I figure out I need to register with the FAA or face some outrageous fines. After two days of off and on searching for the remote ID I sorta figured out that I my drone doesn't have one, that was frustrating as hell! Then I found out you can but a device to remedy that issue, thanks to some good folks on this forum with links I have ordered one that will be here tomorrow. While further watching videos to learn all I can before my maiden flight I've now learned I need to pass some "Trust" test to be legal. I'm getting to the point where I'm afraid to even fly this drone for fear of doing something wrong then have to sell everything I own and have worked for to pay FAA fines... Am I just being paranoid?

You are being paranoid lol The trust is a very simple exam that teaches you more than tests you. For all of our talk about rules and the FAA and fines the fact is you fly on the honor system here in the U.S. and until you invite one over you will NEVER meet an FAA employee. You must and should follow the rules everytime you fly BUT the only person watching you really is yourself. Don't sweat the small stuff lol go out there and fly and have fun!
OP, your concerns are duly noted since it appears you live in Florida. Please check closely your state and local laws as well.
The TRUST certificate is a very simple thing to complete. It just ensures that you have a very fundamental understanding of the basic rules.

If you violate a rule and you happen to get caught it really all deprnds on what you did. If you go to the NFL game and interrupt it with your Drone then you can expect the FAA to come down hard on you. If you simply violate a rule without your knowledge or you did something and did NOT cause any injury or damage you will get a nasty letter from the FAA telling you of any investigation and a number to call. Almost all first time violations are handled with a slap on the wrist and a reminder that you have been officially warned (twice) that any further violations will come with an appropriate fine. The FAA is really more about awareness and not so much about fines.
How many of those sky-is-falling Youtube videos described actual fines that were levied? There are very few cases of large fines and they're all related to egregious violations of the regulations and almost all are related to multiple offenses. It seems that the FAA is remarkably lenient with drone operators who make simple mistakes, usually limiting their response to first-time violations of controlled airspace and such with just a letter of warning.

Thanks to the increase in regulation since 2018/19 and the general negative attitude towards drone users, yes it can be daunting and you can end up frightened to fly the bloody thing even before you send it up in the air for the first time.
Just concentrate on ticking all the necessary boxes (RID and TRUST) then remind yourself that you're now 100% legal and start to enjoy flying your drone. The TRUST certificate is a cakewalk.
Have a great time I wanted to also say that yes you will see stories of fines and FAA investigations. These all are started by Either someone that reported the persons video OR the pilot caused an injury. (all injury accidents must be reported to the FAA) and your local police and fire will do that. The only rule you need to know really is don't risk injury to yourself and others and you will be good to go!
...and just to clarify, injuries are not cuts and minor wounds. People who hand launch and cut their fingers don't have to report it to the FAA unless.....
