Watch the time-lapse video of a sunset on Platte Bay in the YouTube link to see a bird (probably a pigeon hawk or a sea gull) fly by for 1 frame. I think I was lucky it didn't attack.

Thanks for posing that video and photo. I've been doing a lot of time lapse shots at sunset, too. No birds have joined in, though.

It looks like your bird is a Common Nighthawk, also called bull bats out in the country. They're amazing birds, famous for making high-speed dives to catch insects. They make a weird buzzing/booming sound when they swoop upwards after a dive.
