Anyone using a Samsung T3 or similar SSD drive for video editing?

I am curious if you can you speed up the video editing process if you add a External SSD drive like the Samsung T3 500gb SSD unit? The iMac I am looking to buy isn't old ( late 2015 ) and it has the 4K display but has the standard spinning type 1tb hard drive. These Samsung T3 external SSD drives are about $200 for the 500gb unit, but they are supposed to be really fast. Anyone using this kind of setup for 4K video editing?

I just got a Samsung Evo 850 500GB as my main hard drive, everything is faster. If you're getting a 500GB drive anyway it might more sense to get an internal drive and transfer the files you're editing to there. It was also nice to do a clean install of Windows and remove the years of clutter and rubbish slowing down the computer. I now use the original hard drive to back up Windows to keep everything safe.
