Avata 360

With the announcement of the near release of the DJI Avata 360 this is obviously a direct competitor to the Anti Gravity 360 ?
I personally am
not convinced that the 360s are an all round drone but a tool for specific shots
I am also wondering about what effect this will have on the imminent release of the Avata 3 which looks amazing ?

Great insight but again the question on Avata 360 and Avata 3 and my own personal feelings about gimmicks in drones
I am open to be convinced but wonder whether this drone will be a valuable tool for certain shots rather than stand alone drone interesting below 250 g which in UK from Jan 1 2026 becomes irrelevant 900 g being the limit and the Avata 2 being much heavier already than 250 g ?
I will wait for comments from
the experts here ?

If it cost more than an insta-360.....forget it. The Avatas are Decent whoops DJI just needs to thro some mounts on them.

Apparently this is the "Avata 3". I read somewhere this was mistaken for the Avata 3 turns out it's the Avata 360 instead. Way back then, the confusion is understandable since this looks almost like the Avata 2. Who knows.

For me, the ducted whoop-style props are enormously valuable, I'd pay 2x the cost of the Anti Gravity for the Avata 360 (all else being roughly similar). I simply will fly places and take shots with the Avata (or any whoop) that I'd never take an unprotected prop drone like a Mini.

Also, manual/acro flight is important to me, not just for the shot dynamics which can be simulated with a 360 to some extent without the physical gymnastics, but rather the actual flying experience. Won't be able to do that with the Anti Gravity.

I think this is a brilliant move, DJI. And less than 250g? Don't eff it up like you did the weight of the Mini 5 Pro, please!

Now 3 drones I'm going to have to go through foreign resellers to get, and pay extra buck for.

The Avata 2 is way above 250 g and the Avata 3 has 4 blade props nothing like this baby 360

Guys, if the DJI Avata 360 is better than the AG (which I'm sure it will be), it's going to be a winner! I'm not even thinking about the Avata 3 or the NEO 2 right now; if the Avata 360 can top the AG (see video; image doesn't look that great), it might be one of DJI's best drones overall. Hopefully they can pull FCC before the deadline so we can get one in the US. In the meantime, check out the AG, to me it's beautiful what it can do:

DJI doesn't sell drones directly the US residents; that's done. There's no more "choosing" to do so or not. They don't even sell drones to authorized resellers and retailers, at least not their consumer drones. They have removed all the details from their website, they don't have any contracts with Amazon or Best Buy, there's no warranty support or Care Refresh....that's over. It's not a model by model, launch by launch decision. It's over. No one should be expecting "the next" drone to somehow make it into the US because DJI makes a decision; that's never going to happen anytime soon. It's not that easy, you can't just turn on and turn off the channel overnight; doesn't work that way.

I agree. The last drone DJI sold in the U.S. was the Air 3S which was a disaster with Customs holds, setting the precedent for all future DJI sales into the U.S.. If Customs won't allow then to be imported, they can't fulfill any orders and can't offer warranty or Refresh for those buying them elsewhere and individually bringing them into the U.S..

DJI's decision not to sell the M5P in the U.S. was further compounded when the final M5P no longer met the weight requirements for a sub 250g Mini in the U.S., which meant it would only qualify as a Mini in the EU, where there is a 3% weight tolerance amounting to 7 grams over 250g.

Once the M5P exceeded 250g, requiring both pilot registration and RID broadcasting, other alternatives like the Air 3S and the Mavic 4 Pro made more sense, because of a lack of compromises created by not trying to keep the weight to under 250g (and failing anyway!).
