If your drone is 249g ( mini x) and fly in Europe at night with strobe, then BEWARE!!! Because the drone weight is above from 249g with the strobe and the pilot must have EASA A2 Category and not only A1/A3!!!
Have a nice and Safety flights!!!

Good advice, i recently asked in the forum if i could fit a light that wouldn't take it over i was told the drone weights 246g and one of the top rated lights was 4g taking it over by 1g, has anyone here ever had their drone weighed?

Not weighed I don't exactly know who would do that lol BUT If you are in an incident with the drone it could very well be a problem for you.

I wouldn't worry about it, if you are caught breaking the drone laws and they seized your overweight drone, you would have 10 violations instead of 9. Not a big deal. /s

If you're operating under C0 you're not allowed to add any attachment the manufacturer hasn't approved anyway, even if that doesn't bump you to the next weight class.

Make that 11 violations; adding unapproved attachments. 😂

That's why i asked "has anyone here ever had their drone weighed" i am new to this so wondered if people who are not breaking any rules while flying have been asked to land their drone so it can be weighed.

The few times I have heard about drone pilots being asked about the weight of their drones, some of them are here:

Next to zero chance of that happening.... and especially if your craft has Sub-250g written on it, as most do.

The same applies to C1 and C2 as well. I don't think DJI has specified any allowable payloads in their user manuals.

Regarding the opening of this thread, I do not quite follow the logic: why should A2 (controlled classroom test in addition to the Internet test of A1/A3) be required. After C0 drone comes C1 drone, right ? On the other hand, if making a very strict interpretation of the rules, adding a strobe against instructions of the manufacturer might even be considered as a modification of the drone, which removes its class compliance. This would render the drone usable only in specific category with all the paperwork involved.

You don't need a strobe on European rules, just (at least) a blinking green light at the rear, which is already on every DJI drone.

*unless it's filming, when they get turned off for some mental reason...
Sure, turn the front ones off - they affect the cameras, but the rear ones ? - we need them ON DJI ! 🟢

The Mini 2 has a button on the back which blinks green when flying, that's enough and can be seen at around 600m at night.

Mine is the 2 SE i know the light flashes when connecting but i was under the impression it doesn't in flight the video below shows no light i will have to check next time i am out,.

(If) your aircraft has rubber feet on the bottom of the legs, could they be temporarily removed to reduce weight and fit a strobe.
My only interactions with uk plod since 21/07/2017 was when my neighbour came up to have a fly one afternoon when trade was a bit slack, the second was when a NFZ covered most of the West Midlands for a sports event in Birmingham, according to the event NOTAM the venue I use was just outside of the NFZ but the helicopter did fly a 54 mile round trip - to check. Otherwise nobody has ever asked me the weight of my two aircraft and I certainly don’t know, thank god bullshite baffles brains.

No feet on mine :(

I had a very slow crash with a tree last time out due to my bad habit of taking my eye off the drone to look at the screen then when looking back struggling to find it as its so small, i do wish you could fly legally by just watching the footage on the screen, i imagine most pilots do that most of the time.

I only look at the screen as I fly at 100’ as tree’s tend to be below that, I also listen and look out for small aircraft, hang gliders hot air balloons parachutes UFO’s and aeronautical anomalies falling out of the wheel wells of incoming international airliners etc.

You just made me curious with that question about the M3P weight, so I just weighed mine. It's 246 grams.

With that said, I still went through the time and effort to register my drones for recreational use. I always thought it odd to set the registration at 250 grams. Making an account to register a drone is maybe 10-15 minutes the first time, and very short any time after. It's not like the FAA has no clue where or who you are before your drone is even in the air, unless what I read or saw at some point in the past was false. There are enough idiots out there flying like idiots that cause the FAA to tighten regs, and I do not want to be one of those idiots. :0)
