Woodard Bay is an idyllic wild haven nestled in the southern reaches of Puget Sound - a wild refuge in the bustling waters of the Sallish Sea. Here sea birds flock to the riches brought flooding in on the tides, and harbor seals bask on old docks from a long forgotten era. Ancient trees still stand in the surrounding forest, miraculously spared the axe, and only the sound of the lapping waves and wind in the high branches breaks the tranquil atmosphere.
On the other side of the peninsula is the busy budd inlet, and at Burfoot park one may watch everything from elegant sailboats to massive ocean freighters plying the waters of the Sound. To the South is the distant white spire of the state capitol, and to the North and West are the Olympic Mountains - their summits capped in ice and snow.
With the Mavic 2 Zoom's long focal length and a bit of digital cropping I was able to keep an appropriate distance from wildlife - it was pretty cool to be able to see the harbor seals out on the old docks!
