So I crashed the Mavic today. I was taking aerial video of the wedding location to give to the photographer as an added bonus but alas, sport mode was flipped and in the process, the mavic decided to go hug a tree. Scuffs here and there and lost 1 prop. Flies perfectly fine maneuvers perfectly. Gimbal plate is broken [emoji22]. What's the going rate on repairs to this and can I repair it myself? Should I just refresh the **** bird?

Are you getting video feed and is the gimbal moving correctly when you start it up?

Gimbal plate you can get here at Fstop. Good quality and fast shipping:

Self-repair can take an hour or more if you have the skills, tools, and patience.

Sending it in to DJI as a Refresh will take a month to get back and cost $79 and they will send you a refurbished bird.

I can repair it in an hour but you would need to send it to me in Georgia. I use OEM DJI parts.

How much would it cost for the repair? The camera moves fine and I see feed. It just clicks on the frame when I turn it on and throws an overload error.

Thats quite strange, as I thought Sport mode cannot be activated during flight.

Will it mess with a refresh if ever I need to do?
Please see my recent post around self-repair and DJI Refresh. You're taking a risk but that risk might be worthwhile. You pays your money and takes your choice.

That is what I'm afraid of. As much as I believe I will not crash again, I just don't want to waste my $99 additional purchase. I don't mind paying the extra $10 and waiting. I just don't want to waste my 2nd possible refresh. Thunder, I'll def keep you in mind.

Best to send it in to them asap because the summer is coming, and they are gonna get slammed as soon as more people start crashing and needing repairs.
