The tablet (Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus) does not have a USB port - just a USB-C socket so I suppose Bluetooth would be the best/only option. Also, I have got a couple of 'Surface' type devices which have docking keyboards ie with contacts and magnetic attachment. The magnetic bit is great but my tablet has nothing similar - is there any other way to link them or just use keyboard remotely ?

Anyone using a good one ?

Thanks

Edit: Forgot to say - I have got one of these mini keyboards which I use with our NAS but it is not bluetooth - just a wireless dongle. I think something bigger would be best for a tablet.Kb.jpg

Thanks :)

That K380 is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for. It has simple stylish lines whereas most of the ones I have seen on Ebay look like they would be at home on an alien spaceship ;)

Logitech seem quite good. I use one of their wireless kb/mouse combos on our main pc (PS/2 not BT) and it has never had a hiccup - just two changes of batteries in many years.

Why do I always end up with the most costly option ?

I was just about to buy the first keyboard that Thunderdrones recommended which looked great and I was quite happy with it's clean lines - I stupidly just thought I would have a look at the other two - when I saw the second of them I was instantly £17.50 poorer :(

It was the slot that did it !

The slot is really a convenient one. Just look at the second picture where it can take both a phone and a tablet. And you can even use it for larger screen tablets(just for portrait though).

Yes, it has arrived now and I love the slot. It will not quite fit my 8' tablet in landscape with new Moto G6 plus but I can get the old Moto G in. I am fairly sure it would take a 10' tablet.

I have also bought the matching bluetooth mouse and i was not sure at first how much better a mouse/kb would be than touch but after 2 days use I can say it is easier. There are issues though. I use the Swiftkey virtual kb and that has a predictive text system that is so good that it knows what I am going to type even before I do ! The physical kb has a very basic useless one. They both auto-correct well but the physical keyboard does not auto capitalise sentences. Mouse support is nothing like as good as Windows. To be fair, Android is mainly designed for touch but hopefully as it develops they will add better support for physical devices. I am due to get Oreo soon and it will be interesting to see if that is better.

The biggest problem when using a keyboard/mouse combo on an Android device is trying to remember that you are not on Windows. I am constantly selecting words and hyperlinks and then right clicking the mouse and expecting to be able to search or open page in new window etc !
