Hello
I am new here. Not sure if my question is asked in right place.
But please feel free to guild me i appreciate this.
Thank you so much .
Ive read about it that i can take it to plane . But my question is Unboxed. Because one of my friends wants one and i bought it from Amazon and i dont want to unbox it
Thank you so much x

Shouldn’t be a problem. Most airlines have a LiPo battery capacity limit that is more of the issue. The Mavic Air battery by itself or even if you have the combo package that has three(?) batteries won’t exceed those limits.

Be aware that in the risk of a warranty claim he might have to ship it back to the purchase country.

Yes you can. But you can’t check it. You have to bring it on board as a carry on or you may find your Mavic missing at your destination. Also be wary of customs. If they see it they will tax it.

Another thing, the person should buy the DJI Care Refresh Plan from where they live. That way it won’t need to be shipped back to your country to get it replaced, however warranties will still need to be shipped back to your country.

thank you all for the reples. not sure how they are going to tax it? im buying it on Amazon, Amazon gets tax already does it not? Im not much familiar with tax and stuff. im getting the combo package which has 3 batteries, can i take it with myself inside plane? Like in a backpack or something? cuz i saw it has a semi small box. and about worrying if its working or not, Its a rare case that they dont test devices out before they release so its safe to risk.
Also why buy in germany? i checked on amazon and prices are about teh same in amazon.de or amazOn.uk .
Do you have any other suggestion?
Thanks

Thanks but how they are going to check batteries capacities?! Also yeh im buying the combo pack. how could they check how much battery they have in the box? ( i dont want to unbox the drone )
thanks

You may not want to unbox it but ? customs might.
If its still unopened when you get to your home destination they could charge you import duties / tax.

I’m thinking that the issue of an unopened box idea and your friend may be a conflict at some point. Let us know how it turns out. As far as the batteries, you may want to print out that info from the DJI website and have copies to show the people that may need that info.

Depending on the country, customs might view an unopened box as an item for resale and charge a duty tax. What country are you going to?

You don't clearly say where you travel from/to. If they're not in the same tax zone if you buy a new product you're supposed to go to the customs office at the departure airport, get a tax refund of the departure country's VAT and a paper, then at the destination airport's customs you have to declare it and pay that country's VAT. If you don't and you get a check at destination customs they'll make you pay the VAT, so you'll have paid it twice since it's now too late to get the original one refunded. Might get a fine too.

Also why buy in germany? i checked on amazon and prices are about teh same in amazon.de or amazOn.uk .
If you are ordering from Amazon and would do it in Germany where you are now and are going to be in the UK afterwards and the price is the same, it makes no sense at all to buy it in Germany and go through that hassle...

So yeah since it's the fly more combo you have to have it with you in the cabin.

I think what was meant to be said is that customs will charge you duty, not sales or purchase tax, anyway you look at it, this is still a tax, just under a different name. What have you paid for it, that would be the question to know if you have a good deal or not. And the fly more combo has enough batteries with it that it is still under the total allowed as carry on, so you're fine with that.

As has been said, it does not seem to be as simple as you state, regarding buying for a friend and taking it somewhere else. Are you forgetting anything in this exchange?

Who knows if this is about batteries, or taxes, both have been brought up, so . . .

Your question was a little contradicting / confusing.
Why ask about taking it onboard unboxed, when you say you'd prefer it left in the original packaging ?

I think you are worried about batteries only ? If yes, rightfully so.

You'd have to check local rules on carrying LiPo batteries, though most airlines are the same or very similar.
Some special ones like Emirates seem to have their own rules now, so best to ask.

Here in Australia, you can take batteries up to 100Wh rating (the MP batteries are 43.6Wh, check Air specs but suspect well under the limits), cabin bag only.

There are NO limits on how many you can take though, I routinely travel with 4 MP batteries, and sometimes even the Spark too which I have 2 batteries for.

You will HAVE to take the unboxed (or individually boxed) batteries into cabin though, and this may require unboxing the main package to get to them.

The drone and accessories are no problems checked, though I take all my kit in cabin bag to avoid baggage handlers who can be a bit rough.

Ive read about it that i can take it to plane . But my question is Unboxed. Because one of my friends wants one and i bought it from Amazon and i dont want to unbox it

If you left it boxed (which you said you'd prefer) then it's likely it may be looked at as bought duty free overseas and when brought back into most countries, they may apply local taxes / duties.
If you purchase it online for delivery locally in Germany, then it's likely your home country (which is ?) taxes etc would not be applied, but maybe local German taxes / duties will be.

You could get 2 hits on this.

I would just hunt down a great deal locally, wherever you / your friend are based.
