Can you fly Mini 5 Pro with plus batteries out of the box here in the U.S.?

I ordered a M5P with the plus batteries. Then I stumbled across all kinds of stuff like "it weighs too much - but the small batteries weigh too much too - you need to register with FAA - you can't register with FAA b/c DJI is banned and serial numbers don't work - the software won't let you fly - everything is fine - the world is on fire and you are going to prison..."

I am no expert and my head hurts from looking on the internet for hours.

Hey There! New member. My Pro5 Mini is waiting at the post office for me. Never have flown a drone although have flown Rc planes.

You can register the drone with the FAA; the plus batteries are not a limitation. A recreational registration costs $5 for three years and covers every drone you fly recreationally.

They are banned for import..Not use. You will have no problems with updates and the like. the only problem I forsee is if you crash it, the shipping might be a tad expensive.

I ordered the drone from eBay/S. Korea and I was worried it wouldn't work. Guess we will see. Upgrading from my mini SE II that's held together with more superglue and prayers than I'd like to admit. Thanks again.

Not as good as it seems. @GadgetGuy pointed out that while Mini 3 and 4 batteries will both fit, DJI recommend not using them as they are different voltages and there have been problems with them. There’s also a reference to syncing flight data and waypoints flights across drones which won’t happen in the US because of the DJI ban.

You're doing fine; it's a little overwhelming at first but eventually it will all make sense....or not; until the rules change again!

I had a few questions, but no issue whatsoever using it. Mine does weigh 299g with the plus battery but no worries for me. It's registered, I am licensed, and fly it with no worries.

You all are a huge help. Watching the long video instruction tutorial now and it's wicked informative along with everyone's input. I know you're asking snob for the price, but I'll also let you know I paid about $1,134 "out the door" (including tax/shipping etc) off of eBay shipping from South Korea. It's the fly more plus. I know it's not a steal of a deal but I think it's fair considering the limited availability here in the U.S. and seems on par for what they are going for. I read the reviews and could have gotten it about $20 cheaper with no returns but this vendor advertised 30 day returns so I paid the few extra bucks for piece of mind. I'd be skeptical if the price were "too good to be true."

I did order one from Amazon but after a day I cancelled the order after reading the vendor reviews. I got burned from ebikes I ordered last year for the wife and I from Amazon (they did reimburse me though). I learned Amazon is not fool proof to scams! I ended getting the same bikes from Temu of all places. I guess the moral of the story is read reviews and utilize reading comprehension to identify fake ones!

You might have gone to the wrong website, there are many illegitimate sites setup to pretend to be the government site. I would get your money back if you still can, it's only $5 if you are recreational....for as many drones as you wish.

You definitely did not register via the FAA website. There are several commercial sites that will handle the registration for you at a ridiculous price and with a delay. I'd suggest canceling the order with the registration company and have your credit card company void the transaction, too.
