Cause of this crash? Gust of wind?

What would you suggest instead? Is there an alternative? Besides the premium site mentioned above.

I'm not using it for precision, just to get a basic idea of what the wind higher up may be like.
You don't need an app to tell you that the wind up higher will be in the same direction but stronger.

I have personally experienced occasions where the upper winds were not only stronger but were blowing in a different direction.

That will happen if you are close to terrain that can funnel the wind or if you go 25000 ft up but you won't find that in ordinary open drone flying situations.

The Albuquerque box winds are one such example, with northerly winds on the valley floor and southerly winds only a few hundred feet up.

Just to clarify - the AirData website computes what the wind speeds actually were on a flight when you upload the flight log, while the UAV Forecast includes predicted winds aloft from weather service data.
That's all I use it for, just an idea of what could be going on. I don't fly if it's very strong at the surface, much less 100' up or more.

I’ve just had an email back of dji saying there gonna replace it for free. Happy days.
Get a report put in.
Did DJI give you an explanation to why your MA went down?

The DAT file event stream is full of IMU and fusion errors at the end of the flight. I suspect the DJI techs saw that and immediately concluded hardware failure.

That's what I was thinking..
With the slanted angle of the horizon heading toward the wind turbine, it would have been partially acceptable in relation to pitch, but upon turning around to make the return - the tilt/pitch should have also angled back the other way to compensate for wind, but it was exaggerated to the point of no return then down it came.

Op here.
All, thank you for this insightful analysis.

To clarify, it was another poster who mentioned a battery replacement from dji.

I have not contacted dji yet. I believe I am out of warranty, but will try.

Update:
It is alive!

Glue surgery was able to repair the broken arm.
I did a full imu and compass calibration, and then put back up.

Horizon is back to dead even on hover and returns level after pitching.
Also it successfully hovered in place for 80% discharge of 2 other batteries

Flight logs show nothing strange, although I am still trying to figure out how to get the dat file details.

Ouch!
Actually that wind turbine looks like it is moving very quickly, also saw a fair amount of tree movement with the wind. Perhaps it was windier than you thought? Maybe you were in a more sheltered area?
Hopefully someone can assist you with a better answer.
Agree, turbine was spinning at a high rate!

Do you have a link to "UAV Forecast App" ?
Thanks

The cell phone apps are in the PlayStore (Android) or the App Store (the other guys)
